Reason for the Entitling as Sabir
Hazrat Baba Fareed-ud-Din Ganj Shakar writes that Makhdum Ali Ahmed Sabir’s mother came to Pak Pattan on Friday 19 Jammad-ul-Awal 610 Hijri at the evening prayer. After looking at Ali Ahmed Sabir she said oh! Brother I requested you that let not my son ever remain hungry but he did not eat and I replied I gave him permission to distribute food at this she called Hazrat Makhdum Ali Ahmed and asked why did you not eat? So he answered he was told to distribute not to partake it too, gave in at God Almighty’s will and accepted meditation as food for my body. In return Hazrat Baba Ji Ganj Shakar embodiment of beneficence hugged him titled him SABIR and told his mother Oh! Sister God almighty has not sent Makhdum Ali Ahmed Sabir for merriment but you are well aware of the circumstance during his infancy’s patience and fasting. You are also aware of the prophecies and celestial divine orders.
