Visit of Hafiz Shams-us-Din Turk Pani Patti
Hazrat Khawaja Shams-ud-Din (Razi-ullah Tahala Anho) was a ward of Hazrat Imam Jaffar Sadiq (Razi-ullah Tahala Anho). He was of 66 years of age , when he set off from Turkey on 11 Zil Haj 658 Hijri for Pak Pattan, to pay his respects, was ordered to earn his living by cutting and selling woods and complete his religious and spiritual education, while staying with Baba Fareed Ganj Shakar. Most of the time there was no food but his education of Godly love continued. During this time Aleemullah Abdal came from Kalyar Sharif to inform the conditions of the peace and welfare of Hazrat Makhdum Ali Ahmed Sabir. It continued for eight years. During this the wrath of the Sabri did not subdue in Kalyar Sharif. One day Baba Fareed put forward a question when Hafiz Shams-ud-Din was present, “Who will go to Kalyar to make my Makhdum Sabir sit because Makhdum Sabir needs to sit down otherwise this wrath and fury will go on for ever”, at this all the attendants of the meeting kept quite, but after a while Hafiz Sham-ud-Din Turk Pani Patti stood up with great respect and requested that with Baba Ji blessings bestowed upon him, this humble servant would like to do the service and if this servant gets the honour what will be this servant’s reward. Hazrat Baba Fareed-ud-Din Ganj Shakar said whoever will make him sit, he will get Makhdum Sabir in reward. Therefore Hafiz Shams-ud-Din Turk Pani Patti took necessary instructions and blessings. First he gave up daily routine recitation after the prayer and only called out Sabir Pak’s name, with great passion and respect journeyed to Kalyar Pak. On the 9th Muharram along with Aleemullah Abdal reached very near to Hazrat Makhdum Alla-ud-Din Ali Ahmed Sabir and Hafiz Shams-ud-Din Turk Pani Patti stood behind reciting verses of the Holy Quran. When this sweet voice along with the holy verses reached through ears into Sabir Pak’s heart that made his temperament relaxed but Hafiz Shams-ud-Din stopped reciting after sometime, at that Hazrat Sabir Pak said recite more that comforted me; but Hafiz Shams-ud-Din humbly replied that this servant is tired, at this Sabir Pak Sarkar with great love told him to sit down and recite; humbly Hafiz Shams-ud-Din replied how could it be possible when the Lord is standing and a servant should sit down. Hence started reciting again then again said the same thing when stopped, although the wrath had subdued a little but remained quiet. After reciting third time when he stopped and said he is tired and cannot sit when Sabir Pak is standing, to this Hazrat Makhdum Sabir Pak said, no one can refuse a loyal and loveable servant and sat down by letting go off the branch of fig. Hafiz Shams-ud-Din sat too and started reciting that lessened the blaze of this God’s fury. For almost nine years Hazrat Sabir Pak held the fig branch and the flames were ablazed too, but now they were setting down. Hafiz Shams-ud-Din was in Hazrat Sabir Pak service and loved looking at him. Just by looking at Makhdum Sabir Pak he needed nothing to eat. During this never felt the need to go to sleep or eat. On 23rd day Hazrat Makhdum Alla-ud-Din Ali Ahmed Sabir Pak took Hazrat Khawaja Shams-ud-Din pledge of discipleship and said:
“Shams Khuda Bar Falak Ast, Shams ma bar Zameen Ast” (Persian).
After sometime one day Hazrat Makhdum Sabir Pak sent Hafiz Shams-ud-Din to Hazrat Baba Fareed-ud-Din Ganj Shakar in Pak Pattan with some special message (reason).
